The Effect of Sudden Changes of Temperature on Protoplasmic Streaming

چکیده
A sudden fall of temperature of 15 degrees to 20 degrees causes a complete cessation of the protoplasmic streaming in Nitella. The recovery of the normal rate follows a definite course and the time of recovery is dependent on the temperature. Evidence is adduced to show that the inhibition of streaming is due to a physical phenomenon.
